GCC 1st XI Macmillan Cup Winners 2011

Guisborough 1st XI won their first piece of silverware since 2007 with two impressive displays on the finals day hosted at Hartlepool. Photographs of the final taken by Paul Gaythorpe can be found here.

U 17′s Middlesborough v Guisborough on June 6th.

James Lines won the toss in this game and had a bat. This was a low bounce wicket and batting was difficult . However a respectable score of 123 for 4 from the 20 overs. James Lines 43 no; Carl Spencer 34 and Chris Mathews 21 chipped in.

Middlesbrough started well but a fine catch on the boundary by Alec Schmuck got rid of Josh Heaney. A memorable evening for Jack Levitt ended with figures of 5 for 9 & included a hat trick .

This game was played in a good sporting fashion a credit to both teams.A good fielding performance all round especially Phil rose keeping wicket.

v Saltburn

Guisborough u17s win at Saltburn. An unconvincing victory at Saltburn on a very difficult surface means we go into our home game with Redcar unbeaten in the league. James Bolton top scored with 34 and Chris Mathews took 4 for 18 ,

The management committee are looking to recruit a capable and enthusiastic individual to efficiently manage bar operations and to develop our catering capability.

You will have at least 2 years experience in running licensed premises, staff management and training experience and excellent customer service credentials.

The under 17s have begun their season at Whitby but a rain effected game ended under rain and this game was abandoned with hosts 66 for 1 after 10 overs.Our home game with Stokesley was more favourable with a victory by 30 runs. James Bolton was captain for the evening and opted to bat leaving the opposition bowling with a seemingly wet ball. Carl Spencer scored a valuable 50 no whilst Alec Shmuck chipped in with 28. Good fielding and catching restricted the visitors 75 for 9 with John Newson taking 5 wickets . A good team performance all round.

James lines scored an unbeaten 125 against Normanby hall in the NYSD junior cup as the u17 side won by 57 runs , Carl spencer 44 and James Bolton 13 no also chipped in .Guisborough 197 for 1. Normanby hall 140 for 6 . The game was played in a sporting fashion and thanks to Brad Passmore and Jack Brody for playing at short notice,

Attached is the Junior Player/Parent Handbook for 2011 season. Would all parents please complete the Registration form which is included & bring to first outdoor coaching session on 20th April (providing weather allows) together with cheque for appropriate fees.

Please note that the weekly coaching fee has been increased to £2 but the upfront coaching fee has been kept at £20 so it is now much more advantageous to pay upfront & we encourage all players to do so.

Junior Outdoor Coaching

Junior outdoor coaching for the coming season will start on Wednesday, 20th April 2011 subject to the weather being suitable.

The 2011 Junior Player/Parent Handbook will be posted on this website as early in April as possible & emailed as widely as possible so that Consent Forms etc can be brought along to the first meeting.

Team Managers for the coming season will be U9 Andrew Middlemiss, U11 Martin Hood, U13 Andy Tennyson, U15 Jonny Coates & Jimmy Mayhew and U17 Craig Lidster.

Chance to Shine

On 8th March 2011, Guisborough CC embark on a 5 year programme of “Chance to Shine” scheme funded coaching in all 6 schools in Guisborough & also Freeborough Academy. This is a result of us being awarded ECB Focus Club status.

This funding will allow 2 groups at each school to receive 10 hours of mostly curriculum time cricket coaching over 10 weeks each year. The scheme will introduce more children to cricket & hopefully find new junior players for our club as well as bringing in much needed funds.

In the first couple of months the coaching will be done on our behalf by Bob Hodge & Craig Lidster. After that, it is planned that our Overseas Pro will join them in delivering the programme.

Winter Nets Jan/March 2011

Winter nets have been arranged at LJS as follows:

U-11′s & U13′s ; 9am – 11 am Saturdays 15 Jan – 26 March – anyone wishing to attend must notify Andrew Middlemiss by 19th December

U17′s & Seniors 1 pm – 2.45 pm Sundays 20, 27 Feb 6,13,20 & 27 March. These sessions are also for those U15′s who are at a level suitable to take part in senior nets. For other U15′s we will be arranging sessions at Saltburn Indoor nets.
